We are looking to add results-driven Sales Consultants with a passion for the automotive industry to our team. A Sales Consultant position requires great responsibility and professionalism as they are typically the first point of contact with prospective customers, and are responsible for meeting sales quotas while ensuring profitability. While entry-level positions are often available, previous sales or automotive experience is a strong plus. Excellent communication skills are vital, as well as technological aptitude, current knowledge of all dealership products, features and incentive programs โ including those of the competition. Sales Consultants are also required to uphold the highest ethical standards.
To be successful, you should be up-to-date with all the latest developments in the motor vehicle industry and have a passion for sales. You should be able to identify the needs of a customer, recognize their buying signals and close the deal without being aggressive.
Key Responsibilities
โข Meet daily, weekly and/or monthly sales quotas established by the management team
โข Answer inquiries from potential customers in person or online regarding products, product performance, available options and incentive or promotional programs
โข Coordinate test-drives when appropriate, including gathering customer information and identification
โข Demonstrate exceptional standards and ethical sales practices
โข Demonstrate exceptional customer service to encourage customer retention, loyalty and customer referrals
โข Ensure proper completion of all sales paperwork
โข After the sale is complete, ensure the vehicle is ready for customer pick-up and walk the customer through all vehicle features before they leave the dealership
โข Sales Consultants are often required to work nights and weekends
Educational Requirements
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, while a college degree is preferred.
Earning Potential
Sales Consultants can expect to earn between $50,000 and $100,000 per year. Pay is also highly contingent upon the drive and determination of the Sales Consultant to excel in their role. Bonuses are awarded to those who exceed their monthly Sales goals.
