Your child's safety is paramount. Any time your car seat has been involved in a collision - regardless of if your child was in the car seat at the time or not - it needs to be replaced. If anyone in the vehicle was injured in the crash, you can expect that the car seat sustained enough damage to be replaced. Damage to the plastic or frame of the car seat may not always be visible. A car seat is built to take the stress of a collision only once - after that, the integrity of the car seat's frame has been compromised and is no longer considered safe.

Three things to always remember:
1. Replace a car seat any time it has been in an auto collision
2. Get your car seat inspected at least once per year to ensure your child is property secured
3. Keep children in rear-facing seats as long as possible - this is the best way to minimize injuries in an auto collision.
Now that you know what type of car seat is best for your child and vehicle type, how do you ensure it is installed properly? First, always read the manual instructions carefully. The car seat must be secured tightly and not move side-to-side or front-to-back more than 1-inch when you pull on the belt path. The car seat must also be installed at the correct angle to ensure maximum safety of your child.

Denver Police held a briefing yesterday afternoon on the September 7 hit and run that killed 26 year old Christopher Patton as he road a scooter in Downtown Denver. While the Police have found the vehicle, which was stolen, they are still looking for the 4 people seen with the vehicle before the crash. Please spread the word to help the Denver Police seek justice for the Patton family.
