Bad posture is a common factor to neck pain!
If you have developed poor posture, no worries as you are not doomed to be stuck that way forever. Many people complain of discomfort and pain as they try to maintain good posture again after months or years of poor posture. The pain is a sign of changes that have occurred in your spinal alignment and your muscle balance.
Doing exercises to strengthen your key muscle groups and stretch the tight ones is the first step to good posture. Posture plays a crucial role in our overall health since the vertebrae of the spine are responsible for protecting our body’s central nervous system.

It’s Factual Friday! Today’s Fact is on Knee Pain!
One of the most common knee injuries in the U.S. is a torn meniscus.
Most people can still walk with a meniscus injury, but as time goes on, the knee will gradually become more stiff and swollen. Some common symptoms of a meniscus injury are the sensation that the knee is “giving away,” not being able to move the knee through its full range of motion and persistent pain.

This weeks feature employee is our office manager, Cari Allen!
"I have been a part of the Full Potential Physical Therapy team since 2004, and have loved growing alongside the company. I began working as an Aide, then advanced to Front Desk, Billing Coordinator, and I am now the Office Manager. I love working here! We're a tight-knit group, and I truly admire and respect my colleagues. Everyone here truly cares about our patients, and it makes all the difference. One of my favorite things about working at Full Potential is the shared mission we all have to empower and help our community. Watching our patients progress through treatment, reducing their stress and pain, and helping them overcome their limitations - that is the most rewarding part of my job! Outside of work I love to spend time with my family, listen to live music, and write." - Cari

"Hello, Becca here! I've been a PTA at Full Potential for just over 2 years now, and feel so thankful to be a part of such an amazing team! My husband, Evan, and I got married in 2012 and are both born and raised in West Michigan. We came back home a few years ago after living in Omaha, Nebraska. This weeks employee of the week is Kristina Farron!
Learn a little more about her below!
"I recently joined the Full Potential team and am very excited to continue to grow in this company and immerse myself in the Holland community. In 2019, I graduated from AdventHealth University in Orlando, FL with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT). I also attended Western Michigan University where I earned an Exercise Science degree, and have completed continuing education courses through Great Lakes Seminars with a focus on manual therapy. I have a background in personal training, and clinical experience in treating a wide variety of patient populations and orthopedic conditions. I am originally from northern Indiana and spent time in Florida and Colorado during my doctoral studies; however, I feel most at home in Michigan. I enjoy spending my free time with my dog, family, and friends as well as watching Michigan football, and participating in outdoor activities such as hiking, boating, golfing, and snowboarding."
Thank you Kristina!

Over the holidays we were excited to have a backpack drive for children in the Michigan foster system. Each "first night bag" was filled with clothing, toiletries, a blanket, and a stuffed animal. Not only does this help them comfortably transition to their new home in this difficult time, but it allows their foster parents to be able to focus on welcoming them in!
We loved packing these bags and being able to support our local community! To donate a bag, check out www.hopepkgs.org

Our employee of the week this week is Amanda! Here's a little bit about the exciting things she's been up to lately-
"Hi, I'm Amanda and I've been a part of the Full Potential team for over 5 years now! My husband and I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago but I fell in love with Michigan during my undergraduate time at Hope College. I returned to Michigan for physical therapy school at the University of Michigan-Flint.
Our family now calls Michigan home and I love spending time outdoors going for walks and playing outside with my 3 littles and our dog, Cooper.
I love treating a variety of patients but have a special love for women's health. I recently completed my postpartum corrective exercise specialist (PCES) certification to better help women of all ages thrive and feel at home in their bodies after all the changes of pregnancy and childbirth."
Schedule with Amanda for women's health appointments, and start feeling at home again!

We love to hear how your experience at Full Potential was! Check out this great review from a past patient:
"If you are searching for a Physical Therapy Specialist, search no more! Every aspect of my experience at Full Potential was top notch. The reception support staff are very friendly and efficient.
My assigned PT, Kristi was caring, knowledgeable, encouraging, professional, in a word - excellent!! Her assistants, Morgan, Emily and others were great at making sure I did everything with proper form, and were also also caring and encouraging.
I not only recovered from my rotator cuff injury, but left with a working knowledge of how to continue my exercises for maintenance and how to apply the exercises to general wellness moving forward. They have a nice facility and the whole vibe there is welcoming and motivating. Check them out!"

This past November our PT Jeremy and his wife Sarah welcomed their second child home. Meet Graham!
Graham was born on 11/15/2020, and is adored by his older sister Annie. Annie is 2 years old and loves reading and singing to her baby brother (especially when he is crying).❤️
Jeremy and Sarah have been spending time with family and enjoying hikes and walks outside when the weather permits.
They, along with many of our other staff members, are training for a marathon in May.
We love to see our Full Potential family grow!
Congratulations Jeremy and Sarah!

Being a nurse/educator myself, it was important to understand all of the anatomy and physiology of my condition. He was very willing to explain all of this to me. "Full Potential provided me excellent physical therapy. The therapist spent time to determine the root cause of my issue and then developed a series of exercises to help me return to full function. In each subsequent meeting we did more evaluation to measure progress, but they also physically manipulated muscles to get them to open up. I cannot give them a higher rating."
