According to a recent Ameriprise study, many parents say they would delay retirement to pay for a child’s education.
Such generosity, though well intentioned, could jeopardize parents’ future financial security if it comes at the expense of saving for their own retirement and other critical goals. And it could create a cycle of future financial headaches for the whole family.
If parents run out of money later in life because they overspent on their adult children during their working years, they could be left in the undesirable position of relying on those same children for financial support. This burden could fall on adult children at a time when they need to focus on saving for their own retirement.
Having a financial game plan that helps satisfy BOTH goals (retirement AND education planning) is crucial.

Here are 3️⃣ quick facts about Alfred:
1. He has been a part of the team at GWA for 9 years and his favorite thing about GWA is the team approach to client service and operations.
2. A few things people may not know about him is he earned his Eagle Scout designation while growing up on Martha’s Vineyard. He also played baseball for MV High as a catcher and belonged to the chorus, band and jazz band as he used to play the trombone.
3. Outside of work, he loves to do home improvement projects, garden, play golf and tennis, and travel. His next trip is back to Portugal Spring 2021 🛫

Last night we had our annual team business planning meeting virtually 💻
While it wasn’t quite the same as getting to gather together and discuss ideas in person, we still made the most of it! We filled our time with discussion and reflection on this past year of business, our accomplishments and where we can achieve more next year. We also take this meeting as a time to look to the future and set goals for the coming year and we all ended the meeting excited for what is to come for GWA!
