Galebach's recently had the pleasure of refinishing an oak floor that was laid in a Herringbone pattern. There are not a whole lot of these around. They are pretty intricate to lay and keeping everything lined up and corners meeting correctly is difficult. But, in the same sense, they are also tricky to sand because you have to go with the grain of the wood and then also with coating. The photos below show the progression of the job. The first row is the floors before the start of the project. The second row is after sanding had been completed. The third row is the floor following coating. And the last row is the final product! Great job, John Landis and David Nauman, on this transformation !
We completed this project in the Fall of 2019 when the owner decided to put in a new kitchen. After the old kitchen was removed, all the furniture was put in the garage and the homeowner relocated for a month. The original red oak flooring was sanded, stained Early American (Minwax stain) and finished with 2 coats of satin oil-base Zar polyurethane. Then the new kitchen was installed, counter tops templated and installed, appliances installed, and a final coat was put on the floors as the last thing. Ralph Myers, Lancaster's marvelous interior designer, did his magic and put the first floor back together again. Here are the end results! Galebach's recently finished the floors in this beautiful home. We used Classic Gray stain on these red oak floors for an elegant end result!
Galebach's recently completed a job in Lancaster City that resulted in some dramatic before and after photos. In these photos, you can see the floor in the adjoining room which is what both rooms looked like before the refinishing process. Quite a transformation!
Galebach's recently finished a job with some dramatic before and after results. The top set of photos is how the floors in this apartment looked when the carpet was removed. The owner was hesitant about refinishing them given their condition, but once they were sanded and finished properly (bottom row of photos), he was delighted!!
WE ARE OPEN!! Galebach's Floor Finishing is pleased to announce that we have resumed operations as of today, May 11th. Thank you to all our clients for your patience and understanding during this difficult time. Below are some photos of a project we finished prior to our closing. This new house built to overlook the Susquehanna River features an ash floor. It has been sanded and finished with an oil-base polyurethane with a satin sheen. Gorgeous!
Galebach's recently did work on these beautiful oak floors. The picture on the left represents Phase 1 of 2. Notice that the hallway is the old oak flooring that is waiting to be done next. The photo on the right is the finished floor. No stain was used, just the natural color of the red oak flooring with a satin oil-base poly finish.
Lancaster City's old tobacco warehouses are being transformed into condos that are quite popular! This is one we recently did where the old maple flooring original to the building was sanded and finished with an oil-base polyurethane. These floors are not only beautiful, but very hard and durable.
These two recent jobs show great examples of the coating process that is completed after the floors have been sanded and things are cleaned. We begin coating with either a clear coat (left) or a stain coat (right). Custom staining is always available!
