As we celebrate Black History Month, we want to shine some light on the Top Pioneers in African-American Auto History.
This week, we're featuring Charles Richard Patterson, a blacksmith worker from the midwest in the 1860s. Patterson took over a carriage manufacturing company in Ohio, naming it, The C.R Patterson and Sons Company. The family-owned business experimented with manufacturing gas-powered Horseless Carriages and later focused on auto repairs. After Patterson's passing, the company remained within the family from generation to generation, until the late 1930's - that's over 70 years in business!
