The pandemic distilled me down to my rawest form. At one point I was stripped of almost every activity and location where I spent most of my time (work, church, gym). I was forced to identify what was most important to me and discover what kind of man I truly was. I could no longer make money to provide for my family. I could no longer play basketball. I could no longer attend church. Before long I realized that the only things I had were the only things that mattered. I had my family, my belief, love and relationship with Jesus Christ, my relationships with friends, co-workers and patients, and my perfectly sculpted comb over. While I would never wish for this pandemic, I am thankful for the unexpected gift Covid has given to me of becoming recentered on what is most important: family, relationships and God. #givethanks

When I started my practice, we were living off our savings and barely keeping our heads above water. My goal was to create stunning smiles, connect with the community in which I live and make a living to provide for my growing family. Now eight years later, we have a strong tie to our community, thousands have entrusted us with their orthodontic care and my family doesn't eat ramen noodles daily (except Sawyer...he still loves it). I'm honored to be a part of their smile transformations, and I'm beyond grateful for the relationships I have with our families.

Something I have learned as a parent is while I try to teach my kids valuable lessons, I am simultaneously being taught by them. My kids have filled me with gratitude for a loving God who is patient with me as I stumble through life, doing my best, but still falling short in so many ways. They've also taught me that a simple thank you goes a long way. Every "I love you", "thank you" and "you're the best dad", that comes from their lips carries me through the hard days as a parent. I sure love these turkeys!

Not a day goes by that I don’t draw upon the lessons I learned as a 19-year-old missionary in Guatemala. I'll be forever grateful for the foundation this has been in my life. I learned there's more to life than basketball and a pretty blond girl. I started the process of learning to put others before myself. I became fluent in Spanish. I learned to love everyone, regardless of their circumstances, appearance or behavior. Most importantly, I learned that ALL is possible through our Saviour, Jesus Christ and that I'm never alone. Plus...it was just cool to live amongst the extraordinary people of Guatemala, in their beautiful country with its vibrant culture. #givethanks

I really liked that it did not hurt to get my brackets or retainers. Garlock also did a great job getting my brackets in. It only took one hour and it did not take very long.
