Did you know that the first dental x-ray was taken in 1896! The first x-ray plates were cut down by the dentist himself, wrapped in black paper, and then enclosed in rubber dam material. Unfortunately, The glass plates were extremely fragile and uncomfortable for the patient. We sure have come a long way since then!

If left unchecked, bacteria in your mouth can affect many different systems in the body, including your immune system! Poor oral hygiene can cause inflammation in the gums and trigger the release of C-reactive protein, or CRP. In the short term, it is a natural and appropriate response and doesn’t do any harm, but if CRP is being released constantly (due to poor oral hygiene), then it can set off a chain reaction that eventually leads to other health conditions and potentially impair your immune system. While the effects may not be immediate, Health issues may arise as you age. When you neglect your oral health, you neglect your overall health.
