George Koutsos – Loan Officer and Regional Branch Manager at CrossCountry Mortgage in Danvers, Massachusetts – has more than thirty years of experience helping his clients achieve the American dream of home ownership. A consummate professional with a fierce work ethic, George and his team at CrossCountry can boast of closing 100% of the loans they process.
‘I’ve always loved numbers, and I’ve always loved helping people,” says George when asked about the origins of his career in the mortgage industry. “I was working at a bank while I was in college, and I saw a job posting for a position in the mortgage arena. I was intrigued, so I applied and got the job.” Since then, George has built his career on a solid foundation of integrity, honesty and a true desire to help his clients not only purchase a home, but to put them on the road to long-term financial success. “That’s my passion,” he explains. “To educate and help people reach their goals. I do not want to just put them in a home, I want to keep them in their home. As loan officers we have a massive responsibility to do the right thing by our clients.”
George is proud of his association with CrossCountry Mortgage, and of the full spectrum of loan products they offer, though he does profess an affinity for a certain type of loan. “I have a passion for working with first-time homebuyers,” he says. Focusing primarily on Eastern Massachusetts, George is able to assist clients in all fifty states, and the quality of service he and his team provide has translated into a business that is based entirely on referrals from both past clients and Realtor partners. “I invest heavily in the Realtor community,” says George. “I teach classes, and share cutting edge sales techniques which has helped many Realtor partners dramatically increase their business.”
George’s work ethic spills over to his entire staff, something his buyers and Realtors sincerely appreciate. “One of the biggest complaints about this industry is the lack of communication from the loan officers,” he points out. “We tend to over-communicate, in a good way. We have seven day a week coverage, eighteen hours a day, three-hundred-and-sixty-three days a year. Someone will always be there for them when they call.” Efficiency is another hallmark of both George and his team. “I have the ‘Fast Track’ Loan Approval Program,” he explains. “Every one of my purchase clients has to be underwritten – not prequalified. Sixty percent of all purchase transactions in the United States either get denied or meet massive bumps in the road, barely making it to the closing table. With our process that does not happen.”
George is also adamant about giving back to the community that has afforded him his success, and does so through a variety of philanthropic efforts, including his support of the Christian Angel Smile Foundation, DECA, the V.N.A., the Gregg House, and gives a family scholarship to a deserving local high school student. “I love what I do,” says George. “My goal for the future is to help even more families down the path to homeownership and achieving the American Dream.”
