Dr. Kalife completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He then completed his fellowship in cardiovascular disease at the Texas Heart Institute where he served as chief cardiology fellow. Subsequently he did his training in interventional cardiology at Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, California. He initially practiced in the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas and eventually returned to Houston where he practices now. He has been involved through the years in the teaching of students, residents and fellows and has received several awards in recognition to the development of the residents and students. His clinical interests are in coronary artery disease and peripheral vascular disease in diabetic patients and in patients with chronic kidney disease. He is also interested in the association of coronary artery disease and diabetes mellitus in the Hispanic population.
