Dr. German Zermeno opened the American Institute of Natural Medicine in Santa Ana and Laguna Hills, California to provide patients with a non-conventional, affordable, high-quality medical care. Dr. Zermeno focuses on functional medicine and believes patients should be active participants in their healthcare and wellness.
After graduating with the highest honors from the prestigious School of Medicine, National Autonomous University of Mexico in Mexico City as a physician and surgeon, Dr. Zermeno completed his postgraduate training in gastrointestinal diseases at the National Medical Center in Mexico City.
Following his postgraduate studies, Dr. Zermeno immigrated to California where he obtained his medical license and cared for patients as a family practitioner for over 20 years. It was during this time that he became frustrated with many aspects of the current medical system, recognizing that the industry created patient dependency on medication and omitted the patient’s responsibility for their wellness.
This dissatisfaction drove him to focus on functional medicine, natural therapies, and nutrition. After encountering success and observing excellent results, he became board certified by the American Academy of Anti-aging Medicine. Dr. Zermeno now incorporates hormone replacement therapy, detoxification, platelet-rich plasma, ozone therapy, and many other natural treatments into his medical practice.
Dr. Zermeno believes that unless patients take charge of their own health, no medication or treatment can truly heal their condition. It is the responsibility of the patient to make changes in their lifestyle, to get the appropriate nutrition, and to avoid exposure to toxins. It is the responsibility of the physician to provide the appropriate guidance and support and to inspire the patient to succeed.
