Dr. Gilchrist Jackson specializes in Surgical Oncology, Endocrine Surgery and Head and Neck Surgery. Prior to joining Houston Methodist Surgical Associates, Dr. Jackson built a productive surgical practice at Texas Oncology Surgical Specialists and Kelsey-Seybold Clinic. He trained at University of Texas Southwestern School of Medicine and at a Surgical Oncology Fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center in the Head and Neck, Endocrine and Surgical Oncology sections. His clinical research interests include the diagnostic imaging for patients with hyperparathyroidism, the early diagnosis of thyroid cancer through FNA biopsy, parotid tumors, and function-preserving neck dissection for thyroid and other cancers.Dr. Jackson's extensive clinical practice includes patients with hyperparathyroidism, benign thyroid disease including goiter and Grave's disease (hyperthyroidism) and all types of thyroid cancer including selective, limited or more extensive neck dissection. Surgery is carefully tailored to the extent of disease and includes MIP parathyroidectomy. Dr. Jackson treats MEN (multiple endocrine neoplasia) patients, and patients with adrenal functional tumors such as Conn's (hyperaldosteronism), Cushing's Syndromes, pheochromocytoma, and other adrenal tumors. He also treats neuoroendocrine and functional tumors. His other clinical interests include breast cancer surgery and diagnosis as well as head and neck cancer/tumors, melanoma, soft tissue sarcoma and other diseases of the salivary gland, colon, small intestine, stomach and pancreas.
