Girl Scouts! We’re 2.6 million strong—1.8 million girls and 800,000 adults who believe in the power of every G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader)™ to change the world.
Our extraordinary journey began more than 100 years ago with the original G.I.R.L., Juliette Gordon “Daisy” Low. On March 12, 1912, in Savannah, Georgia, she organized the very first Girl Scout troop, and every year since, we’ve honored her vision and legacy, building girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place.
We’re the preeminent leadership development organization for girls. And with programs from coast to coast and across the globe, Girl Scouts offers every girl a chance to practice a lifetime of leadership, adventure, and success.
Some of the programs offered include:
STEM
STEM, which stands for science, technology, engineering and math allows girls to ignite their curiosity and creativity. They build critical thinking and problem-solving skills by participating in activities like Lego® robotics.
Financial Literacy
These programs allow girls to focus on skills to help them become future leaders. These skills include goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills and business ethics.
Miss Media
The digital realm is growing and improving, so skills in mass media should as well. This program helps girl scouts develop writing, interview and public speaking skills. In addition, they can take on acting roles for commercials and online videos.
Create new friendships, learn about the world and build the confidence needed to succeed. Contact Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta today at (800) 771-1139 to join. You can also visit their website for more information or like them on Facebook.
