"I got started in woodworking after my husband and I had a house fire. We just got married, purchased a house and then 10 days later had a major fire. We had some issues with insurance so we completed a lot of the remodel ourselves. I fell in love with working with my hands and from there, my passion for creating and building really took off.
I use repurposed lumber for my furniture whenever possible. This started when I saw all the waste we had from ripping out the fire damaged 2x4s. There was beautiful lumber and the wood told a story (see herringbone side table). Every piece of wood has its own story... when you think about it, trees are a slice of history. They’ve seen so much and grown through the changes in our world.
The majority of my wood is repurposed from trees that have fallen in storms, or were taken down during developments or remodels. I have wood from the Boys Town development, wood from my families land after a terrible storm blew over many of our mature trees (like the tree our childhood swing was on), and lumber from my grandmothers childhood farmland after a tornado passed through. Mother Nature has a way of working in mysterious ways... we were all sad when those storms struck our land, but all sad things can be seen in brighter light. I choose to create pieces of practical art from these sad moments to continue passing on the joy that these trees gave others while they were standing tall now as beautiful furniture.
My goal with every piece is to help others facilitate more face-to-face conversations. If you have a stunning coffee table, my hope is that it will spark a desire for people to take a moment and share in a quality conversation about that piece which can lead to more conversations. We live in a life of speeding through moments and I believe that sometimes taking a second or two to share quality time with another person is more beneficial than crossing off your next to-do on a list."

Deck day two lots of blocking and stair builds and @omaha_techno_metal_post to drop in two footings. 26 ft long deck. One piece rim board can’t get that in treated or cedar. In treated LVL’s though you can. Decking next @fiberondecking

Good productivity today on this 10 by 26 ft deck. Easy with these LVL’s. We can install the brackets in the ledger before hand and just drop them in place bc these all are spot on width wise unlike treated lumber @builderssupplyomaha @unique_custom_home_plans_llc
It’s has come along ways since we first removed the garage. Waiting on a few windows to finish the exterior @imagine_home_solution @tangerinedesignskb @builderssupplyomaha @lpbuildingsolutions

A simple and a must with framing basements. If you are finishing your basement yourself and or another contractor this is the proper way to do so. Framing in front of this blanket insulation as per the second pic creates condensation in the walls and eventually lead to mold. We install 1” foam onto the walls, tape all seems and foam any large gaps then insulate with R-15 to give these walls a R-21. Rock and rolling along we go. @builderssupplyomaha

Skipping along on this kitchen backsplash. 1080 pieces soaked in water for 2-3 minutes, then dried, then cut if needed then back buttered and then installed. Getting closer and closer. Never installed over a 1000 piece backsplash in 15 years. Setting records before the 2020 is over. @iconic_styling
