Dr. Glen Crawford is a recognized leader in the field of dermatology.
Dr. Crawford received his medical degree at New York University School of Medicine. He subsequently completed an internship in General Surgery in Texas while serving as a Captain in the United States Air Force. Dr. Crawford performed his residency training at the University of Pennsylvania, serving his last year as the Chief Resident. He serves as the Chief of Dermatology at the Pennsylvania Hospital, the country’s first hospital. He is a Clinical Associate Professor of Dermatology at the University of Pennsylvania, board certified by the American Board of Dermatology, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology.
Dr. Crawford is a Castle Connolly Top Doctor and has been recognized as one of America’s Most Compassionate Doctors. The Compassionate Doctor certification is part of the Patients’ Choice recognition program, where patients rate and vote for their favorite doctors. Dr. Crawford was also listed in 2012 and 2013 Philadelphia Super Doctors.
At the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Crawford teaches residents, conducts clinical research, and co-directs a regionally recognized specialty clinic in contact dermatitis and patch testing. He also conducts a clinic specialized in laser treatments and aesthetic dermatology services. His primary area of research interest involves the interaction between the skin and environmental allergens. He has published more than 40 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, and he has lectured widely in the United States and abroad.
Dr. Crawford is committed to medical education and dedicates countless hours to the instruction and supervision of dermatology residents (the country’s future dermatologists). The dermatology residents at the University of Pennsylvania are among the very best in the country. He also supervises medicine residents from the Pennsylvania Hospital, visiting dermatologists and residents from foreign institutions, and medical students interested in the field of dermatology. When he’s not seeing patients, Dr. Crawford spends as much time as possible with his wife Karin, his daughters Emma, Elisabeth, and Alexandra, and their dogs Hugger and Thorin.
