Today's inspection on Marco Island had exposed electrical wires at the dock. Someone is in for a shock!
Just got back results on radon testing. Another home with elevated levels. It was 9.0 piC/l, which is roughly equivalent to smoking a pack of cigarettes a day! The problem can easily be remediated, but you have to know you have a problem in order to do so.
We inspected a commercial building today. The ceiling tile had a stain. When I tried to lift the tile to see if the leak was coming from the air handler above I got a head full of water!
When the fascia has wood decay, you know you have a roof leak.
The huricane straps can't be more than 1/2" away from the truss. This one was just over that. The carpenter should have added wood blocking onto the truss and then attached the strap to the blocking. You are allowed to add up to 1 1/2" of blocking. If your house has this problem you can has an additional strap added in order to get full credit on the wind mitigation inspection report.
The sheet rock window return had black on it at today's inspection. I put a moister reader on the wall and got 83%. Anything above 19% is a danger and the leak should be remediated. We performed indoor air quality tests to determine if there are elevated levels of mold in the air.
