9/29/20 Update, as of today, there are now 2 big dogs confirmed with Kennel Cough (both were current on vaccination) and one small dog (current on vaccination) We checked with a couple of vet offices who told us that kennel cough is going around anywhere that dogs congregate (dog parks, daycares, vet offices, pet stores) If your dog is coughing please leave them at home and set up a vet appointment. We are transparent here at Good Karma and want to make sure everyone is informed and safe. 9/25/20 A dog that was here Monday and Tuesday (in with the big dogs) has been coughing since Thursday night, and taken to the vet this afternoon. The vet thinks it may be kennel cough. The dog is current on all her shots, including kennel cough. If your dog is not feeling well or is coughing, Do not bring them to daycare, check with your vet to see if it is something contagious and let us know.

Wag N Train Terrier Rescue-Omaha NE Yesterday at 7:07 PM · Cody is 6 year old miniature schnauzer. He is a low key fellow, rolling with the punches; even little kids do not bother him. He likes to hang around and follow the humans and other dogs (large and small). He is not yet a fan of being held or getting up on furniture, but he’s content to lay on the floor nearby. He will try to walk away when you approach but he is progressing with his trust. He is definitely a shadow and needs to know where his humans are. Outside, he follows his foster siblings around the yard, sometimes trying to play. They have been good to show him ropes. He’s working on his potty training. He has some anxiety issues when he is left alone. He would do well with a canine companion. Cody loves eating. He will make sure you know that he’s ready to eat. He likes to eat so much, that he’s a bit chunky. He could do with some exercise, but he is not high energy. If Cody is for you, please apply at: www.wagntrainterrierrescue.com

Jan Suche October 25 at 9:14 PM · Do you know what the red box on the front of each cage is for? This red box can be filled with enough food/water to last 7 days. That means the puppy mill owner can stock those red boxes, walk away, and won't have to return for 7 days. Many owners even turn the lights off in those stinky barns so they can save on electricity. That's not much of a life, is it? Don't buy puppies online and don't buy from a pet store, because you are supporting puppy mills. Please share. Please tell at least one person per day about puppy mills and that adoption from a shelter or rescue group is the best option. Be The Voice! Speak Up.

Adam Naugle November 20 at 1:09 PM · Gun season is here. Im sure that we’ll be getting calls about eagles walking around in circles in the middle of fields any day now. Dispose of your field dressing appropriately. If you bury them, burry them deep. Deep enough to where scavengers wont be able to dig them up and drag them out. Even if you don’t think there’s lead in the remains, dispose of them properly because you’re probably wrong. It only takes a few microscopic lead molecules to do this to an eagle. Handle your business the right way or use nontoxic shot.

Marianne Whyte November 16, 2019 at 9:34 PM · Dog Poisoned by the Diffuser Saturday night I got home late and my dog didn't recognize me. Being a nanny I thought I woke him up and he was having a night terror. Sunday, he was still acting weird. I realized that I had been running my new diffuser and decided to turn it off. Sunday afternoon, he was feeling better. Today at work, my dog sitter said that he wouldn't come out from under the bed. It was very odd as he is a happy dog. I came from work early and again, he was very confused about who I was. So I took him to emergency vet. It turns out that the tea tree oil I was using in the diffuser is toxic for dogs. Thankfully the test showed that his liver was ok but we weren't out of the woods yet. He was given fluids under his skin to get the toxins out. The vet and the poison control are saying that they see these cases often now that the popularity of essential oil is growing. Please make sure that the essential oils you are burning are not toxic for your pets. Here is a list of essential oils not to use if you have a dog at home Anise (Pimpinella anisum) Birch (Betula) Bitter Almond (Prunus dulcis) Boldo (Peumus boldus) Calamus (Acorus calamus) Camphor (Cinnamomum camphora) Cassia (Cassia fistula) Chenopodium (Chenopodium album) Cloves (Syzygium aromaticum) Garlic (Allium sativum) Goosefoot (Chenopodium murale) Horseradish (Armoracia rusticana) Hyssop (Hyssopus sp. with the exception of Decumbens) Juniper (Juniperus sp. with the exception of Juniper Berry) Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) Mustard (Brassica juncea) Oregano (Origanum vulgare) Pennyroyal (Mentha pulegium) Red or White Thyme Rue (Ruta graveolens) Santolina (Santolina chamaecyparissus) Sassafras (Sassafras albidum) Savory (Satureja) Tansy (Tanacetum vulgare) Tea Tree Oil (Melaleuca alternifolia) Terebinth (Pistacia palaestina) Thuja (Thuja occidentalis) Wintergreen (Gaultheria procumbens) Wormwood (Artemisia absinthium) Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) Please share this story as it may save someones precious furry family member!
Stephany O'Dell October 22, 2018 at 10:32 AM · As the holiday seasons approach...remember puppies aren't just "gifts" they are a commitment you need to be making for the lifetime of that puppy...if you can't make that commitment then please don't get one...they don't deserve to end up homeless or abandoned.

2/12/21 Health alert: A younger, small dog was at daycare Tuesday, February 9, he has been confirmed to have a puppy wart. This virus is spread by salvia and tends to affect younger dogs. Please check your dog mouth before you bring them to daycare. Infected dogs must stay home until cleared by a vet to come back to daycare. This virus is not transmittable to humans or cats and usually clears up by itself over the course of several weeks. If you are in doubt keep your dog at home and have it confirmed by your vet. This virus is very common and is found anyplace that dogs congregate including daycares, grooming salons, dog parks etc. If you have questions, please call us at 402 614-3333
Omaha public power district has announced that there will be rolling power outages for up to the next 72 hours homes and businesses may lose power for an hour at a time. We will still be open and there’s enough insulation in the building that we can be without heat for an hour and everyone should remain comfortable
Please send love and blessings to Sadie and Toby’s family as they lost their beloved Father and Husband, Roderick, yesterday morning. Roderick was surrounded by his family and his favorite dogs when he passed into Spirit. May perpetual light shine upon him and upon the many people who loved him. Special blessing sent to Pam, his wife of 40 years.
