When the COVID-19 pandemic began, the Margaret A. Darrin Charitable Trust sought out impactful ways to improve the lives of patients battling the disease. A need was quickly identified, and through a $235,000 grant, the Morristown Medical Center Sameth Emergency Department was able to upgrade eleven exam rooms into negative-pressure rooms, which protect against the spread of airborne infections.

This year has been full of surprises, don’t let an avoidable health complication be one of them.
Doctors say now is the time to take action when it comes to your health. This means scheduling your annual physical, flu shot or other vaccination, and making preventive screenings and care for chronic conditions a priority.
Scott Lauter, MD, MBA, FACP, FHM, chief medical officer of Atlantic Medical Group, and Faith Goldman, MD, of Atlantic Breast Associates in Branchburg, discuss why now is the time to take charge of your health.

Atlantic Health System's Soothing Paws® Program teams were called into action to support Emergency staff on the frontlines. The animal-assisted activity program ("pet therapy") for patients has temporarily been suspended due to Covid-19 restrictions, but the support does not end for staff and emergency personnel. With a modified protocol and additional safety measures in place, the Soothing Paws® teams support the resiliency of hospital staff with limited outdoor visits and virtual programs. The positive emotional and physical benefits of animal-assisted activities (AAA) include reducing pain, anxiety, depression and fatigue, as well as lowering blood pressure.
To learn how you can support the Soothing Paws® Program in our community, contact the Foundation for Morristown Medical Center at 973-593-2400.
