Victor Katz, M.D., F.A.A.O.S., is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon with special expertise in complex spinal surgery and minimally invasive spinal surgery serving patients at his practice, Gotto Medical Care PC in South Ozone Park, Brooklyn, and Mineola in New York. Dr. Katz treats a variety of spine problems, such as degenerative scoliosis, spinal stenosis, compression fractures, back pain, herniated disc, and sciatica. He received his undergraduate degree, Bachelor of Science in Biology, from Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education at City College, New York, NY, where he was on the Dean’s List.
Dr. Katz obtained his medical degree at SUNY Medical School at Stony Brook, Stony Brook, NY. At Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, NY, Dr. Katz served as Chief Resident in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. He then went on to a General Surgery Internship at Cabrini Medical Center in New York, NY where he received the Outstanding Intern of the Year.
At St. Vincent’s Catholic Medical Center, in Jamaica, NY, Dr. Katz served as a Chief Resident in Orthopedics. He then did a Spine Fellowship at the Spine Institute at Seaton Medical Center in Daly City, CA.
Dr. Katz authored an article in the Journal of Spinal Disorders & Techniques entitled “The Sacroiliac Joint: A Potential Cause of Pain After Lumbar Fusion to the Sacrum” in 2003. He presented a previously unreported case of a Salter Harris II Medical Clavicle Fracture with Posterior Retrosternal Displacement Diagnosed with CT Scan at both the 94th Annual Scientific Assembly and the Southern Medical Association, Section of Orthopaedic Residents and Fellows in Orlando, Florida and also at the New York City Pediatric Society Meeting in 2000.
In addition, as a Diplomat of both the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Dr. Katz also is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, North American Spine Society, American Medical Association and the Medical Society of the State of New York.
Dr. Katz is fluent in Russian and medical Spanish.
