We hope that everyone is doing well. We are still open for business and operating with normal hours. We are taking the necessary precautions to keep our patients and staff safe. Check out our office hygiene video showing the measures we are taking!
We have seen an uptick in neck and back pain complaints related to the tremendous increase in the number of people working from home. It may not seem like a big deal – but the typical American spends 40% of their life at work. This means the positions you put your body in will – over time – have a huge effect on your posture and your overall health. A new work space can be likened to a new workout routine. Your body needs time to adapt – and using proper form will help to prevent any injuries. The image below is a great reference tool – we’ve also got them available as a table tent that can stand alone on your (new) work desk. If you or your coworkers could benefit from them as a reminder – we’ll send them to you!
We are living in emotional times. Here’s an acronym to help you identify your feelings, cope, and overcome. The acronym is 𝐏.𝐀.𝐂.𝐄. 𝐏 – 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐯𝐬. 𝐓𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐲 The situation we are experiencing can be likened to a cloudy sky. We know that it won’t last forever and the blue sky still exists; even if we can’t see it right now. Your blue sky is made up by all the good things in your life – family, friends, faith and memories. Now is the time to relive the good through the bad and hang on. 𝐀 – 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 How are you talking about the pandemic? Compare the tone of your self-talk and your communication with others to how you would explain the situation to a child. Display empathy. Draw on your own past experiences to help tell your story. 𝐂 – 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 This pandemic is affecting everyone. The world is coming together to protect those that are high-risk. Remember, the fatality rate of this virus is low. Right now, everyone is acting in the best interest of those who really need the help. Find joy, pride, and comfort in the unity. 𝐄 – 𝐄𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 What emotion has this pandemic evoked in you? An exercise you can do to really identify the emotion you’re feeling is to ask yourself “why” SEVEN times. If you’re feeling angry; Why are you angry? Answer that. Then again, ask why? This exercise will help you uncover the real reason behind the emotion. Be specific. Once you can mention it; then you can manage it. Stay strong everyone. If you need our help, we’re here to serve. Your Graham Chiropractic Team
The recent recommendation from Governor Wolf and Dr. Levine that customers (patients) and employees must wear masks while on the premises does not apply to health care providers. We will therefore not be wearing masks in our office nor will we be requiring you to wear one. We have attached a copy of the letter from the PA Secretary of Health for your review. If you have questions or concerns feel free to contact the office at 412-655-8525.
Our office will remain open normal hours through next week. We'd like to explain why: 1. Our office is safe Just like every other business; we routinely clean our space. We are taking all necessary precautions to ensure your safety. Our team is well-informed on the signs & symptoms to look for in themselves, as well as our patients. You are safe here. 2. We will help your immune system. We're stocked up on nutritional products that have been proven to bolster and support the immune system. Getting adjusted will keep your body running at optimum levels. We're giving out Fruits (like always) so you can keep fueling your body appropriately. 3. March has been stressful.. It's been a long month! The pandemic has affected day-to-day life and will continue to do so for a while. Finding childcare, work changes, altering travel plans, running out of toilet paper... All these things add another layer of physical stress on top of this crazy situation. Physical stress will dampen your body's ability to perform. 4. You need to (and can) go somewhere. "Social distancing" is a proven and effective method of slowing the spread of disease. We encourage you to follow the CDC guidelines (link - https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nCoV/index.html). While staying shut in for two weeks is great family bonding time (maybe you can finish a game of Monopoly!) -- you're likely going to want to get out of the house. Our office will be open, the coffee will be fresh, and we'll be more than happy to provide you with an opportunity to get away. Now is the time to spread faith, hope, and love (not the virus.) We'll be here when you need us. Your Graham Chiropractic Team CDC.GOV Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)
