MOLINARO
Anthony Michael Molinaro of Philadelphia, PA passed away on January 22nd, 2021 at St. Monica’s Center. He was 74 years old. Born to Anthony Molinaro and Mary (Costa) Molinaro, he lived in South Philadelphia all of his life.
Anthony was known to many in the area as “Archie” or “Arch”. He was truly a “man about town” and made friends everywhere he went with his sense of humor and outgoing, charismatic, and magnetic personality. Anthony had a big heart, and was kind and generous to his family and those he met.
Anthony was a very talented, self-taught musician, and for many years he played the drums in various bands across the Philadelphia area. In his 30s, he learned to play the alto saxophone and founded the jazz group, “Templeton Mystique”, which played regularly at Khyber Pass and J.C. Dobbs. Music was always a big part of Anthony’s life, and if he wasn’t playing it, he was listening to it.
Anthony loved to spend time with his friends at the local social club, La Casa Di Pazzi. Some of his greatest pleasures were dining out and going to the casino. For decades, Anthony was active in politics and participated in campaigns and elections. He also served as a committeeman for the 2nd ward 7th division in South Philadelphia. Anthony was also an avid, skilled card and pool player and competed in various venues across town. He loved animals and rescued many dogs over the course of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Michael; and uncle, Dominic D’Adamo. Anthony is survived by his daughter, Nicola; half-brother, Michael; half-sister, Deneen; aunt, Angela D’Adamo; cousins Donna, Peter, and Dominic, and their children; and additional cousins and relatives.
Anthony’s family would like to thank the staff at Pennsylvania Hospital and St. Monica’s Center for the care that he received. Private services will be held and memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society at 100 N 2nd St, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
