A note from Dr. Schratz and Dr. Hodge: The End of an Era On Friday, we performed the final surgery at Eastern Niagara Hospital/ Lockport Memorial Hospital. We have been honored to work along side such talented and compassionate care givers at the Eastern Niagara Hospital OR and ICU. We are saddened by the closing of the ENH OR and ICU, and will miss all of the people we had the privilege to work with. Our primary focus has always been and will continue to be our dedication to our patients. We will now be offering services out of St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston in addition to Kenmore Mercy. We are also excited to share that we have plans to expand the services we offer in our surgery center. Keep an eye out for more information regarding this in the New Year. We thank you for your continued support and would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and happy, healthy holiday season!
BUFFALONEWS.COM 'Death by 1,000 cuts' as Erie Canal stakeholders fear short season, reduced hours Ellen Schratz, Alderperson At Large Yesterday at 12:06 PM · UPDATE!!!!STATEMENT FROM NEW YORK POWER AUTHORITY PRESIDENT AND CEO GIL C. QUINIONES “The New York State Canal system has been, and continues to be, a significant driver of economic development for upstate communities and a valuable resource for recreation. As the 2021 navigation season approaches, the Canal Corporation is actively engaging with a wide range of local stakeholders across New York who rely on the waterway to identify their needs. The Canal Corporation is also assessing and addressing portions of the system’s aging infrastructure. These projects include undertaking efforts to optimize operation of the locks and lift bridges based on usage data when the Canal system opens this spring. As in previous years, the Canal system is projected to operate mid-May through mid-October and no changes are expected to the normal hours of operation. In addition, New York State’s iconic Erie Canal is not being renamed. The Erie Canal will remain the Erie Canal just as it has been for two centuries.” This is the article reported Tuesday in the Buffalo News about shortening the length of the Erie Canal season and daily hours of operation.
