Here is another update from a Super Counselor! This fall, Ellie started at Tulane University and is having the most incredible time! Despite COVID-19, she is able to attend some in person classes and still have a good and safe college experience. Recently, Ellie has been working with 4th graders virtually for her Psychology and Early Childhood Education Major. This experience makes her miss GAC so much! Introducing the first Staff Championship: Josh! Young Explorer Unit Leader and Kreative Kangaroo counselor extraordinaire! Laura is a super counselor! She wrote, “I graduated from St. Mary’s College of Maryland with a BA in Environmental Studies. I am now living in St. Mary’s County, nannying and doing some Environmental Justice research! Lauren is a superstar! She shared: I’m currently living in Maryland, holding a position as the Quality Assurance Program Manager at the healthcare company. I miss working at camp, and every time a memory pops up on her Facebook, I am reminded of how special it is and how lucky I was to be included 7 summers in a row teaching dance and watching the kids grow. Some of my campers are out of high school now, and I love staying in touch and hearing about the amazing things they are doing in their lives. Right now, my favorite hobbies include rock climbing indoor and out, and finding a spot outside to sit with friends (while practicing safe social distance guidelines!) I hope everyone is taking care of their mental and physical well-being during this unprecedented time. Much love! Rachel is another superstar counselor! She was a Lead Counselor at Green Acres Camp two summers ago! I loved every minute at Green Acres and hope to be back in the future. I am currently in my second year of teaching kindergarten in Montgomery County. Even though I am teaching my class of 16 students from home, I still love teaching and getting to see my kids on Zoom every day. I also got engaged over the summer and will be getting married this December! I am very excited for this next chapter of life. Duncan was a super champion! He took amazing photos which we continue to enjoy! 🙏 Duncan shared, “Since summer ended, I’ve returned to school at West Virginia University. More than ever, I’ve headed to the outdoors where the social distancing is easy and the views are undefeated. West Virginia is a gorgeous place and home to so many beautiful sights as the fall colors explode across the hills and valleys. I’m also now the photo editor at the Daily Athenaeum, WVU’s student newspaper. In this role I’ve been shooting a ton of different assignments across campus and beyond."
