3.25”x 3/4” #1 Common White Oak scrap. Who knew White Oak could be so warm on a chilly morning in the Northwoods.
#1 Common Rift & Quartered White Oak install complete. #greenbayhardwoodfloorrefinishing
We are turning this 560 sq ft once wore down and scratched 3rd grade Maple back over to the home owner. We sealed it with water base sealer and ceramic fortified polyurethane in satin sheen.
1st project of the week was the 3rd bedroom and closet from a former 4 bedroom home we refinished in Spring of 2019. 175 sq ft White Oak, oil seal and ceramic fortified polyurethane in satin sheen.
We turned this 365 square ft Red Oak refinish back over to our customer today. Carpet tear out, full refinish with water base sealer and water base ceramic fortified polyurethane for elegance and durability. We also installed 144 linear ft of quarter round to give the 3 bedrooms a nice clean look.
585 sq ft Maple re-finish. Not sure what the previous wood floor company put on this floor for protection but it didn’t adhere.
We took possession of this 450 sq ft White Oak Parquet pattern full refinish on Monday. After applying an oil base sealer, and a commercial grade ceramic fortified water base polyurethane (durability for the dogs that reside there) the customer will be back on their floors after allowing 48 hours for cure time. Thank you Maureen Crowley Peck and David Burke for allowing us the opportunity to be part of your home remodel.
What started as an in home consultation to refinish a 900 square ft “wood floor” turned into a full tear out of a very “cheap” non-sandable land fill resident. Customer tore out glued down Oak veneer, added a 1/4” subfloor to the existing 3/4” and we did the rest. Installed 900 sq ft of 3.25”x 3/4” Rift & Quartered #1 Common White Oak, sanded, stained Nutmeg, oil sealed and ceramic fortified polyurethane in satin sheen. Simply a beauty!
In the late 1940s, hardwood flooring was given a huge boost in popularity with the minimum standards for homes that qualified for the Veterans Affairs departments home loan guarantee program which was created after World War II. Homes that were built for returning American soldiers had to be built with hardwood floor‘s to qualify for the government backed loan program. This federal requirement remained in place until 1967 when homebuilders convinced the government that plywood subfloors covered with resilient sheet or wall-to-wall carpet should be allowed as a minimum standard.
We’re turning this 2nd grade Maple back over to the homeowner. A few challenges on this one to assure we met the customers expectations ✅ cut out and replace random cherry boards with 2nd grade Maple in the dining area to appear they were never replaced ✅flatten the floor to remove cupping of wood ✅Achieve flawless sanding so no sanding marks are visible. ✅achieve a “white wash” look but not a complete “white wash” look so the floors have a nice contrast with cabinets, paint and granite countertops We stained this floor Silver Grey, applied an oil base sealer to give the floor more depth and finished it with a commercial grade water base polyurethane in satin sheen. A one of a kind for sure.
2nd Grade Maple refinish. @durasealwoodfinishes stain Silvered Gray and @arboritecusa Avenue 20 for elegance and durability #greenbayhardwoodfloorrefinishing
A nice supply of both natural light and artificial light on this 600 sq ft 2nd Grade Maple refinish. Sanding techniques must change based on lighting conditions. We think light should always be considered when setting the expectations with the customer.
A full sand and refinish of this 576 sq ft 3rd Grade multi-width Birch Hardwood is in the “cure” stage. 2 component ceramic fortified polyurethane floor finish is not only durable but the cure time is much less than single component or oil modified polyurethane’s. We’ll get you back on your floors quicker without sacrificing durability or elegance.
Our customers have spoken and we’ve taken note. Moving appliances back into place after we’ve refinished a hardwood floor brings up the stress level for our customer’s. The thought of them scratching the floor scares us too. Someone has to fix it and it’s not an easy or inexpensive fix. For an additional charge we are now equipped to move appliances, refrigerators, stoves, washing machines and dryers, across a newly refinished hardwood floor or any other hard surface floor without the appliance ever touching the ground.
Winter is next in NE Wisconsin. Follow us to elegant hardwood floors #greenbayhardwoodfloorrefinishing
Moving appliances back in on a bed of air this Monday evening. Jackson Strohmeyer taking charge.
This week we were given the opportunity to take this 1200 square ft 2nd grade Maple from a dark stain that was severely scratched to a natural Maple look. The large open area appears to be even larger with the lighter floors. What do you think?
This weeks project is complete. 650 sq ft Red Oak #harwoodfloor refinishing has now been turned back over to the homeowner. #greenbayhardwoodfloorrefinishing
Our 2nd project of the week was a 2 bedroom 245 sq ft #hardwoodrefinishing of this 73 year old White Oak. Water sealed and finished with @arboritecusa water base Classic in satin sheen. We’re heading to the woods for a few days and will be back at saving old and new hardwood floors later next week. Safe hunting to all who participate in the #wigunhunt2020
Knowing the MC (moisture content) of the #hardwood floor before applying water base finish is the only way to be sure when the hardwood is ready for the 2nd coat. The best sanding equipment and the best skill set when sanding and prepping the floor means nothing if the polyurethane finish fails. #greenbayhardwoodfloorrefinishing
1st of 2 #woodfloorrefinishng projects for the week is complete. This 420 sq ft 2nd grade pre-finished Maple was crowned and scratched severely. We finished it off with @arboritecusa Avenue 20 for elegance and durability. #greenbayhardwoodfloorrefinishing
After running 2 grits on the @americansanders Floorcrafter, we pull out the @laglerna Trio to really flatten the floor. #greenbayhardwoodfloorrefinishing #flatfloors
