Frigid weather is on the way! Here's your to do list to prevent damage due to frost 😀
Shut off and drain your sprinklers
Disconnect all of your hoses
Drain your swamp cooler and disconnect the water line
Change the air filter to your heater (not for frost damage, just a good idea)
Stay warm out there!
With temperatures falling, it's time to get on the list to winterize your sprinkler system. Please email or give us a call to get on the schedule. When you're ready to stop watering or if the temps are forecasted to drop below freezing, make sure you turn the water off inside and out and drain the system. We have directions on the FAQ page of our website http://greenscapescolorado.com/faqs.html . We look forward to hearing from you!

What do I do in Winter?
Winter is an important time for your landscape and due to the drought, it’s even more imperative to care for your plants, trees and grass. The Colorado Springs region typically has mild temperatures in the winter months and it’s also the windy season. Plants can lose moisture through desiccation (drying out) of the branches. Because of this, winter watering is of the utmost importance to your landscape. When temperatures are well above freezing (50’s -60’s and above), get a hose out and slowly apply water to all the plants. A slow trickle is the best for the soil to be able to absorb the water. Evergreens are still using and transpiring water, so definitely make sure all of them are watered. The grass will also benefit from winter watering. With a hose, run a sprinkler over the lawn to get some water on the grass. We recommend winter watering at least twice a month. Come springtime your lawn will green up quicker and have a healthier look.
