Greetings, as we march through June and grapple with COVID -19, Demonstrations and Riots where is all this heading? Over 40 million have been unemployed, and over 100 thousand have died due to the virus, and demonstrations across the country and world became violent turning into riots, yet the stock market has been in a rally since plummeting in March from the COVID-19 shutdown. This would seem somewhat contradictory at first, but when looking at the stock market, it is pricing in the future of business as states continue to reopen and people go back to work. The market is betting on America to not only survive, but prosper and continue the pre-COVID-19 market expansion. Many might think that this stock market rally and the market in only benefit the wealthy. It certainly does benefit the wealthy but this alone doesn't tell the whole story, For small businesses to prosper there must be a solid economy, which is largely dependent on the health and prosperity of our publicly traded corporations. It is widely understood that for every job at Boeing or Microsoft there are an additional four jobs added to the economy! So if Boeing hires 50,000 employees, we can anticipate an additional 200,000 jobs in the economy, these will range from tool and die shops, small manufactures, legal and financial services, grocery and convenience stores, hotels and hospitality as well as auto sales and sales of durable goods and home sales. So, I remain steadfastly optimistic that if we maintain our core values of honesty and decency in the treatment of all peoples we just may have an opportunity to make this country and this world a better place. But I caution, there are those that would seek to destroy the American way of life. We must not allow totalitarian socialistic regimes to derail our coveted freedom of speech and all of our Constitutional rights under a deceitful cloak of promises of free handouts by the government. Freedom is what gives a person dignity and a sense of purpose and the dreams of bettering themselves and living out the American Dream not possible anywhere else on the globe.
MY CHALLENGE TO YOU
Our nation is heavily divided on many social and economic issues facing us today. Race relations and the wealth gap between rich and poor are two very key hot topics. I urge everyone to try an experiment over the next couple of days. Most people have their "go to" sources for news. For a moment, let's just assume that all news organizations have a bias one way or the other in the political spectrum. So, if you are a FOX patron, for the next few days, watch your news on CNN or MSNBC, and vice versa if your watch CNN regularly, try watching FOX. As an attorney it is essential that I not only advocate for my client, but that I understand the the opposing side and its arguments. Understanding the other person's side of a story generally leads to a better understanding of your own position, and results in negotiation where meaningful results can be achieved. If the litigants in an action fail to understand their opponents position and reasoning it is very difficult to resolve anything.

Did the exercise give you a better perspective on the varying viewpoints? Or, did the experience cement your convictions even further?
Our ancestors gave us an opportunity for a better life. Our way of life has become a beacon of hope for the world, despite our own internal struggles with lingering racism and the growing wealth inequality to highlight a few. America is in a position to shape the world. Our actions in the coming weeks and months will have significant impacts on all of us for generations to come. Among the many significant events going on, we are also going to elect our next president in November. Who will we choose to lead us out of our current situation? Personally, I'd like to see an America where my children and grandchildren grow up FREE without the burden of the past injustice to enjoy the many splendors of life that living in a FREE democratic republic - the United States of America has to offer.
Oh, I'm not leaving out the global warming and environmental debate, they too have split the country and are a crucial part of our future and will have to be settled in a manner that we all can agree to. Undoubtedly, with 350 million citizens of the US we will continue to have a diverse population with diverse needs, desires and opinions. Learning how to peacefully negotiate the myriad of issues that our nation faces is paramount to our survival as a FREE country.✌️
