Gaps happen...
But they can be prevented!
The #1 way to prevent gaps: keep homes at 60-80 degrees with an RH of 35-55%.
If a humidifier isn't on when the heater is, then it's very likely for gaps to appear. Why does this happen?
As the temperature goes down and we turn on our heaters, the relative humidity (RH) in our home lowers.
With decreased RH, wood floors become too dry and shrink... which causes gaps.
So to be safe, our recommendation is to start in the middle and aim for 70° and 45% RH.
