Morton Bertram III, MD, FAAOS, offers his orthopedic expertise at his self-titled practice in Bonita Springs, Florida. Dr. Bertram is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who specializes in total joint replacement and founded Bertram Total Joint Centers in Naples, Florida.
For more than 30 years, Dr. Bertram has focused on developing and honing techniques and technologies that best treat patients with joint pain or injury. He is internationally recognized for his expertise in total joint replacement surgery and developed his own method of surgery called capsular sparing total hip replacement. Dr. Bertram was recognized as a Florida top doctor in 2018 and 2019.
Dr. Bertram sees patients from a wide geographic area, including a variety of professional athletes like Hall of Fame baseball player Johnny Bench, PGA golf professional Peter Jacobsen, and former Notre Dame football coach Ara Parseghian. He’s the busiest implanter of the mobile bearing hip replacement system in the United States. Surgeons travel to his offices to learn his techniques.
ProPublica recently identified Dr. Bertram as the surgeon in Southwest Florida with the lowest combined complication rate for hip and knee replacement surgery.
Dr. Bertram received his undergraduate degree and graduate degree in biochemistry and physiology from the University of Kentucky in Louisville, Kentucky. He earned his medical degree at the University of Louisville in Kentucky. His surgical and orthopedic residency was completed at the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio. Dr. Bertram completed an adult reconstructive surgery fellowship at New England Baptist Hospital, a Tufts University affiliate, in Boston, Massachusetts.
Dr. Bertram worked in private practice in Cincinnati for several years and spent some time simultaneously working at Wellington Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine. He was part of Mercy Healthcare System in Cincinnati and then moved back to Naples and founded Bertram Total Joint Centers.
While in Cincinnati, he was recognized as being in the top 3% of physicians in the area, earning “Top Doctor” for orthopedics. He’s currently part of the NCH Physician Group in Naples, Florida.
