Junetta was accepted into the Habitat program in April 2019. Taking classes on home maintenance and working on families’ homes have been rewarding experiences, she says. With her seventh grandchild on the way, Junetta is very excited that construction on her Habitat home is beginning. She is looking forward to living in the Bowen Park neighborhood and playing an active role in its revitalization. “I’m ready to step in and be a help to the community where God has placed me.” 🏠
“This was a big step for me. I vowed that when I got into the Habitat Home that I would never re-mortgage it and that I would pay it, and pay it, until it’s payed off. And I’ve done exactly what I vowed to do 20 years ago.” - Ms. Cole, Habitat Homeowner with Mike Campbell, Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth CEO

When you help us build, you help Forsyth County families take important first steps toward home ownership — and their highest hopes. A sturdy, affordable home is crucial for a family forging a path out of poverty.
In the U.S., more than 44% of households need some sort of accessibility feature like grab bars, no-step entrances or widened hallways. Yet fewer than 4% of residential units contain such features for people with even moderate mobility disabilities; only 1% have adequate features for people with more severe disabilities. Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County’s Repair Program can do just that with the partnership of Aging in Place. Habitat is able to provide accessibility features for homeowners who are older than 45 and residents of the place matters neighborhood. This includes home preservation and critical home repairs. By adapting a home to fit the needs of its residents is integral to helping them improve their quality of life and providing the sense of comfort only home can provide.
We love working with other organizations in our community! Thank you GreeNest of Winston-Salem for being an amazing partner to us and to families in the Forsyth County community. GreeNest of Winston-Salem January 7 at 2:29 PM · Sometimes it takes a village! Beauforn donated furniture to greeNest that included some table tops that needed legs. Volunteers at Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth made the legs for these table tops at the Habitat workshop. Now they're ready for a family to use and enjoy! #community #volunteers #habitatforhumanityofforsyth #greenestwinstonsalem
A Habitat for Humanity house is a hand up, a step up for families who — many of them for the very first time — are achieving a safe, healthy, and affordable place to live.

Before the pandemic, 1 in 7 U.S. households were paying half or more of their income on housing. 🏠 🔨COVID-19 and its economic impact have only worsened the home affordability crisis. And, we know that the disparate impact of the pandemic on communities of color will only widen the homeownership gap and perpetuate segregation of neighborhoods and resources. Unless we do something about it. Significant investments in housing affordability must be apart of any future economic recovery and infrastructure measure. 🏠 By prioritizing foreclosure prevention, neighborhood revitalization and housing production for low-income homeowners, we can prevent major losses in homeownership and expand access to new affordable homes for all. #HabitatontheHill Join us in urging Congress to act now for housing: https://habitatforhumanityinternational.salsalabs.org/covid19?utm_source=VHD2021&utm_medium=Bizzaboandemail&utm_campaign=covid19action.
