My mom purchased my first pair of glasses at Haledon Opticians over 30 years ago. In which I still patronize. Cait and I stopped by for an adjustment and it almost turned into a field trip. 🤣 Mike Reilly your father would not put up with our shananigans 🤣

In the 19th century, eyeglasses were often called “pince nez” spectacles. Why? The phrase comes from the French words for "pinch" (pincer) and "nose" (nez) to describe eyeglasses that pinched or rested on the bridge of the nose because they lacked earpieces.
