A recent survey revealed that most physical therapists find their job to be very satisfying. And I can attest to this fact. I am one of the luckiest men alive because I love what I do. It is normal to feel sad when our bodies become deformed or disfigured due to trauma or diseases. Rheumatoid arthritis is one of those diseases. Recent studies show that focusing on what our bodies can do (i.e. abilities) versus disabilities can help improve our self-image and make us feel better. The Maryland Health Care Commission is expanding its WearTheCost.org campaign, aimed at increasing transparency around hospital pricing in the state for various procedures (e.g. knee replacement).
One of the biggest changes is the ability for consumers to sign a consumer appeal to doctors, hospitals and insurers to urge greater price transparency.
The campaign expansion will also add new data, including updated price and quality measures for common procedures from more recent years. Consumers will also be able to use the website to create custom reports showing the cost and quality among hospitals for one or more care procedures.
