Dr. Leonard Gordon is an orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in hand surgery at the Hand and Microsurgery Medical Group in San Francisco, California. Among other conditions, he treats carpal tunnel syndrome, osteoarthritis of the thumb, nerve injuries of the hand and arm, hand and wrist fractures, Dupuytren's disease, ganglion cysts, hand tendon injuries and rheumatoid arthritis.
Dr. Gordon trained in hand surgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School. He completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at the University of California, San Francisco. After completing his training, he was Attending Surgeon in Microsurgery at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco for six years. Dr. Leonard Gordon then served as Chief of Hand Surgery in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco. He held this position for twelve years before entering private practice in San Francisco.
Dr. Gordon was director of an accredited Hand Surgery Fellowship training program for over 20 years and is Associate Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Adjunct Associate Professor of Anatomy at the University of California, San Francisco. He taught Anatomy at Stanford University and University of California, San Francisco for over 20 years and continues to teach residents in Orthopaedic Surgery at San Francisco General Hospital. He is a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery among numerous other professional organizations. He has had over 80 peer-reviewed scientific articles published, five over the past 2 years. He has had two books and 12 book chapters published. He has lectured extensively, both nationally and internationally, and is involved in providing surgical care in underserved areas of the world. He is actively engaged in innovative scientific research and developing surgical implants and devices to improve patient outcomes.
