HANSA-FLEX SUPPORTS AMUSEMENT PARKS IN ITS MAINTENANCE WORK FOR FUN AND SAFETY.
At 213 feet the Volcano Tower is not quite as high as the viewing platform, but it offers a very special ride experience: passengers are catapulted to the top of the tower at more than 34 mph and then plummet down again. Two large pneumatic aggregates accelerate and gently brake the gondola, which is suspended on two steel cables. The ride lasts just under two and a half minutes. The four pressure accumulators must then be refilled. The entire system is controlled by a technically trained operator with years of experience. “For the acceleration it’s important for the cylinder to operate at the right pressure,” explains Gröll. “This depends on the total weight of all the passengers, which is calculated by load cells installed in the seats and varies between 160 and 218 PSI”
“We completely dismantled the Vulcano Tower last year using a 160-ton crane,” says Gröll “This year we also replaced all the hose lines and overhauled the brake cylinders.”A comprehensive task, in which HANSA-FLEX was happy to support. An absolute highlight: the test runs. These enable the operators to become familiar with the ride characteristics and are a duty that is gladly performed after every maintenance operation.

On Thursday, 22 October, building owner Thorsten Armerding and board member Uwe Buschmann, together with representatives of the Jürgen Schlake architectural office and the construction company responsible, BREMER AG, symbolically broke the ground to mark the start of construction work on the expansion of Bremen headquarters. It will be the largest construction project in the history of HANSA-FLEX.
