In the past, most bathroom plumbing pipes were made of cast iron or galvanized metal. However, these pipes won't work with many of the newfangled, water-saving setups like low-flow toilets.
Low-flow toilets will save about 17,000 gallons of water yearly. (Note: Flushing a standard toilet uses about 38% of an average household’s water.) The catch is, they require PVC (polyvinyl chloride) or PEX (cross-linked polyethylene) pipes. But updating to these kinds of pipes is both easy and affordable!

If everyone in your home doesn’t know how to turn off the water, you might want to show them.
Freezing temperatures can cause pipes to burst, and if you want to prevent huge problems, one thing you should do is locate the main shut-off valve in your house.
That way, if you have a leak, you don’t have to run around trying to figure out how to shut off that branch to that leaking appliance or toilet — you’ll know where to go to shut down the water to the entire house.

If you haven't checked your ducts for leaks lately, you may be losing energy. Ductwork leaks cause your HVAC system to work harder. In addition to losing conditioned air, if the ducts aren’t tight enough, negative air pressure can suck in dirty air. Air duct leaks are especially problematic in basements, crawlspaces, garages, and attics.

Covers can usually be reused for several years so they are a good long-term purchase. For just a few dollars per fixture, you can winterize your outside faucets from freezing quickly!

I want you to get ready for some of the coldest air in a long time. Models have been showing this for some time. This is TRUE ARCTIC AIR and it arrives a week from Sunday! (Valentine's Day) This is the latest European Model Data. The American GFS model is almost identical, increasing our confidence level.
It's Throwback Thursday, so let's rewind to the 1960's. Remember when toilet paper was made to match your bathroom decor? With a rainbow of pastel colors to choose from, white was just too plain! What was your favorite color?
When you use your hose and turn the spigot off, there is still water in the wrapped-up hose, including some water still in the line going to the spigot.
During the colder temperatures, this water can freeze, causing the water in the pipes to crack. In cases where you have a "frost-free" spigot, you may not know there is a problem until you turn the hose back on.

An urgent request to the citizens of Henry County to come together to help out those in need in Texas.
Henry County has partnered with the American Legion 516 out of McDonough to supply water to the people of Texas. The American Legion there has asked for help. People across the state of Texas are in great need of fresh drinkable water after the winter storms, which have destroyed their water supply. This needs to be done quickly, time is of the essence. The Henry County Police Department and Chief Mark Amerman is asking members of the community to bring in one case of water which will be placed on a truck and transported to Texas Wednesday morning.
Thank you in advance for your willingness to help others in need.
What: An unbroken case of bottled water. The cases will be palletized and then transported.
When: Anytime between now and Wednesday morning 2/24/2021. There will be people manning the trailer from 8am to 5pm, this Monday and Tuesday. Water will be transported out Wednesday morning. The community has until then to bring any donated water.
Where: The donation trailer is parked at Red Hawk Field (143 Henry Parkway, McDonough GA 30253) across from the admin building located at 140 Henry Parkway, McDonough GA 30253. (If the trailer is unlocked place the water inside, if locked place the water on the sidewalk next to the trailer.)
The winter months when you are using your AC less is the perfect time to clean your compressor unit.
Use a broom to sweep off leaves, twigs and other debris on and surrounding the A/C. Then use a hose to wash off dirt, dust and bird droppings. Then allow the unit to dry. Cleaning the air conditioner prevents it from getting clogged and breaking down when you use it during the spring and summer.

I don’t usually post reviews for anything even though I’m always checking reviews. I had our A/C unit checked for not running. They were quick to answer the phone and were out the same day. A single flush toilet only has one option for flushing and uses a full tank of toilet water for both liquids and solids. A dual flush toilet has two options and uses as little as 0.8 gallons for liquids and between 1.3 to 1.6 gallons for solids.
