Hardy Brake offers a dedicated team of outside travelling salesmen who call on many customers throughout the tristate area. This has been a key practice for us since we were established in 1949. Our founder, Alfred Hardy would travel the area to call on customers and their needs. As the years have passed we have expanded our sales team and territory to ensure that our customers are called on frequently to provide the parts they need when they need them. Today we have three dedicated salesmen to service our customers in the Indiana, Illinois and Western Kentucky portions of the tristate. If you are in need of heavy duty truck parts, one call to outside sales office will ensure the parts will be pulled and delivered to our customers on a routine basis.
Hardy Brake and Electric is a third generation family owned business. It was opened in 1950 in its original location on Fulton Avenue in Evansville, Indiana by Alfred Hardy and his wife Aline Hardy. Alfred started out rebuilding starters, generators and magnetos himself in a small, frame garage behind his home. After they opened, Alfred started the concept of personalized service, still carried on today, by personally traveling and calling on customers. Aline Hardy did the book keeping in a small office at the business. As the business grew, so did their daughter, Sandra Hardy. In 1965, she married Robert Kerney who started working at Hardy Brake that same year. He learned the business by rebuilding auto and truck parts himself. In 1979, Robert and Sandra Hardy Kerney purchased Hardy Brake and incorporated it. In 1984, Hardy Brake and Electric opened a second location in Owensboro, Kentucky at 708 Breckinridge St. Having outgrown its original building Hardy Brake moved to its current location at 920 West Franklin in January of 2000, marking fifty years of business. In 2012, Robert Kerney took a well earned retirement. He is still involved in an advisory capacity. Robert and Sandra’s son, Mark R. Kerney runs the day to day operations. Hardy Brake and Electric is proud to say they offer sixty-five years in business and years of personalized service experience from our employees.
