You're INVITED to the 5th Annual Parker Center Symposium -- Virtual with Limited In-Person Spots!
Loneliness and isolation have been a problem for many before the pandemic sent us into quarantine and the 6 feet of distance between us. Now that everyone has experienced new levels of isolation — and perhaps felt different aspects of loneliness — what can we learn about overcoming this global epidemic?
On Friday, Oct. 9, 2020, the Ruth Frost Parker Center for Abundant Aging and United Church Homes will present our fifth annual symposium — Power in Community: Overcoming Isolation and Loneliness. We have limited space for individuals to join the presenters at the Nationwide Conference and Event Center and unlimited opportunity for others to join and interact virtually.
• Virtual participation is free to all.
• If you need CEUs and attend virtually, the cost is $25.
• In-person attendance, including lunch and CEUs, is $59.
For more information and to register, visit https://hubs.li/H0whPBR0.

This year, we’ve dedicated one of our Christmas trees to the staff that has been working so hard to take care of our residents as a token of our appreciation. One of our trees honors our warriors as each Harmar Place “angel” is represented on this tree. We also have our Elf on the Shelf, currently in quarantine to keep people safe and remind everyone of our safety guidelines.
As we celebrate #Christmas, United Church Homes President and CEO Rev. Kenneth Daniel shares a warm story about the journey we take during Advent on our Abudant Aging blog: https://hubs.li/H0D1QFY0

Today, our residents and staff received the COVID-19 vaccine - our community is the first in Washington County to be vaccinated. Patricia Vargas, Harmar Place Chaplain, Sue Boulton, Administrator and Dr. Daniel Cannone, United Church Homes’ Medical Director were among those who received the vaccine today.
It's the season to be jolly! Our Director of Activities, Rachel Jones, is spreading holiday cheer as she visits our residents.
We want to gently remind families that we recommend that residents stay in their United Church Homes communities over the holidays for their own safety.

Happy to take one for the team! Terry Spitznagel, UCH Senior VP and Chief Growth Officer, and Jeremy Lemon, Trinity Community at Fairborn administrator, are the first at United Church Homes to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. UCH is partnering with CVS to offer the vaccine to all staff and residents in its senior communities. More than 80 percent of staff showed up to get their first dose today at Trinity Community at Fairborn. Harmar Place will be next to receive the vaccine on December 23, and more communities will receive it in the coming weeks.
We're getting crafty! Our residents worked with our therapists and made Christmas decorations for our nurses station.

It was a red letter day at Trinity Community at Beavercreek, as there were plans to vaccinate 300 residents and staff at a COVID-19 vaccine clinic. Laura Farrell, Senior Executive Director, and Jack Carlson, a resident, kicked off the vaccine clinic. We appreciated Corrye Vaughan, sales counselor, creating a fun balloon arch for pictures from the day!
Since December 21, CVS has conducted COVID vaccine clinics at 7 United Church Homes senior care communities. Rev. Kenneth Daniel, our President & CEO, joined Fairhaven Community staff today who stepped up to be vaccinated to help protect our vulnerable residents.
We are excited to share that the first COVID-19 vaccine clinics took place the week of Christmas at Trinity Community at Fairborn, and Harmar Place, in Marietta, and will continue through early 2021. Learn more about how UCH is taking steps to protect staff and residents: https://hubs.li/H0D93Bg0
