Our July member spotlight is long-time NAELA member, Heidi Dodd!
Heidi is the owner of Harter, Larson & Dodd, an estate planning and elder law firm located in O’Fallon, Illinois. She has been practicing elder law for 12 years. Heidi’s favorite part of being an elder law attorney is having the opportunity to serve her elderly clients by helping them get their affairs in order and seeing the peace of mind once they have accomplished their estate planning goals. She really enjoys her 80 to 90 year old clients who share a story and have a sparkle in their eye! She is a hugger and misses being able to hug her clients during COVID.
Asked about the benefits of her NAELA membership, Heidi states: “The connections made with other colleagues throughout the State of Illinois through the UnProgram and online monthly calls which are invaluable! The listserv adds another level of information related to various issues and legislation that impact every elder law practice. NAELA is a unique, welcoming supportive community of elder law attorneys who are willing to take the time to share information and their knowledge to help fellow members out! It is such an amazing group of attorneys and human beings!”
Our fellow members may not know this, but Heidi was a Mardi Gras Queen in New Orleans in 1994. She was the Queen of the Krewe of Zeus and spread the message of Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouller (Let the good times roll!) throughout New Orleans. Heidi brings this same enthusiasm to the Illinois NAELA Chapter and her dedication to the elder law community. We are grateful for the sparkle in her eye at our UnPrograms, and her positive attitude!
