2020 EVERGREEN CEMETERY FALL CLEANUP NEWS RELEASE
It’s Fall Cleanup time at Manitowoc’s Evergreen Cemetery. The Cemetery Division asks your help in clearing all summer decorations in order to help maintain Evergreen Cemetery’s park-like beauty. Lot owners are respectfully asked to remove their summer decorations by October 15, 2020. Any items not removed by October 15th will be disposed of by cemetery staff, and any perennials found on gravesites will be cut down to ground level. With over 29,000 graves to maintain, the support of families who observe the cemetery rules is greatly appreciated.
Winter decorations should not be placed until November 15, 2020. Decorations should be kept close to the marker, so as to minimize damage from snow blowing for a grave opening in the nearby area. During winter months, artificial flowers should be put in a container instead of being placed into the ground.
The complete set of Rules & Regulations can be found on the Pricing & Policies page for Evergreen Cemetery on the City of Manitowoc website (www.manitowoc.org.)
Individuals can sign up to receive text or e-mail notices about the cleanup and other important items by clicking on the “Notify Me” button on the City of Manitowoc’s homepage and following the directions to subscribe to Evergreen Cemetery News Flashes. Cleanup notices are sent approximately two weeks prior to the deadline for removing items.
For additional information, call the Cemetery Division at 686-3570 between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday or e-mail the cemetery office at evergreen@manitowoc.org.

“In the Land of Elsewhere is a combined creation of members of one family. Our unique images are created by combining our artwork and photography with vintage elements to create one of a kind style. All pieces are individually antiqued and distressed by hand to create a beautiful vintage look. All designing, printing, and stretching of the canvas is done entirely by our family. We produce literally thousands of pieces out of our studio monthly.
We use eco friendly materials of the highest quality. We seek out small USA businesses for materials such as canvas, paper, and stretcher bars to use in printing and developing our product.
Each family has their own section in this land we have created. We named our business Elsewhere because our artwork is created from places we have visited in person and in our imaginations. Our studios and homes are log cabins, build 12 ft up in the trees on the Brazos River outside of Weatherford Texas. We love to glean inspiration and creativity from our surroundings, whether it is working in our organic vegetable gardens or strolling down the sandy river banks as the sun sets or rises.
Natalia and Jason spend every summer entirely in Russia with Natalia’s family, where they seek to find remote flea markets and “out of the way” antique shops to search for that next unique vintage element to be added to our newest creations. They also work part of the summer on a family farm and Jason takes thousands of pictures of the beautiful Russian countryside to incorporate it into our artwork. Jason and Natalia operate under the Vulpine Forest in the Land of Elsewhere.
John and Thereasa Ramsey started creating artwork 30 years ago, they operate under The River Village in the Land of Elsewhere. John and Thereasa are blessed to see all of their four children and their spouses creating their own art to inspire others. We are modern day bohemians sharing our hearts, lives, and imaginations through our artworks.”

"Sweet Grass Farm started on a very simple premise — we have always been interested in creating our own body care products and soaps. Starting in the kitchen, hand-stirring batches of creative and good-for-you products, we were dreaming of a business that could provide fragrant and gentle products at affordable prices, with a good dose of friendly service.
We use natural plant-derived ingredients and essential oils wherever possible to create our products. We do not test our products on animals, and they are paraben-free. Many who are sensitive to highly chemical cleaning and body care products find that our collections give them relief from allergic reactions and chemical sensitivity.
We have worked hard to create natural skin care and cleaning products that are healthier for your family. We offer our products in a variety of different fragrances that allow you to find the perfect scent for you.
At Sweet Grass Farm, we wanted to give people a line of home and body care products that was gentle and safe. Our naturally made products will change the way you view body and home products.”

“There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.”
So many people raved about the beautiful flowers downtown last year! The 2 most asked about plants were the lovely petunias on the lamp posts, and the beautiful grasses in the center of each sidewalk planter. Now you know what to ask for if you want some for your own yard this Spring!
**the grasses are not perennials, they are annuals in our climate.
Who can guess what these will be when they grow up?

25 DAYS UNTIL SPRING! We're almost there, folks! 🤩
FIRST BLOOMS OF THE YEAR! ENJOY!
It’s always nice to see some fits and starts of color around the greenhouse. Before they are transplanted, we have to snip these early blooms off. It takes a lot of energy from the plant to make a bloom, and we’ll need them to redirect that energy into making strong, sturdy stems and foliage first!

Anybody hear Robins singing this morning? 😃
“During the 1926-27 school year, the state Federation of Women's Clubs sponsored bird studies in the public schools. School children chose the familiar robin (Turdus migratorius) 2-to-1 over the nearest competitor. The robin has earned this title partly because it is one of the five most abundant summer residents found in Wisconsin. The robin is also a migratory bird. We commonly think of it as the first sign of spring, even though it arrives after the killdeers, Canada geese, and red-winged blackbirds. Some robins choose to overwinter in residential areas in southern and central Wisconsin, others leave the first few weeks of October to find warmth in the Ohio Valley and eastern states. Watch for their return by the hundreds in April!”
