Dr. Maury Harwood is a skilled board-certified orthopedic surgeon serving the diverse communities of South San Jose and Morgan Hill, California at his practice, Harwood Orthopedics. He specializes in all facets of sports medicine, but is especially renowned for his life-changing, minimally-invasive replacement surgeries of the shoulder, hip, and knee, as well as, a full scope of sports-related surgeries.
Dr. Harwood earned his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts, where he also completed his residency. During his residency, Dr. Harwood served as Chief at New England Boston Hospital, where he honed his skill for joint replacement surgery, among the hospital’s areas of renowned expertise. Following his residency, he completed a fellowship at the University of Colorado, Boulder in sports medicine. During this fellowship, Dr. Harwood received specialized training in arthroscopy, minimally-invasive hip and knee replacement surgery, and sports medicine.
In addition to seeing patients at his private practice, Dr. Harwood performs surgery out of Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose, Forest Surgery Center, and Saint Louise Regional Hospital in Gilroy. Throughout his career, Dr. Harwood has also served administratively tat Saint Louise Regional Hospital, including as Chief of Surgery. He has also served on Saint Louise’s board since 2009.
Dr. Harwood is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the California Orthopedic Association, and the Western Orthopedic Association.
Dr. Harwood is a native of Los Angeles and is married to Rachelle Harwood, a San Jose native. They have called the South Valley home for more than a decade and enjoy spending time with their two children, Colton and Macyn.
