HAWKENVIRONMENTAL.COM Guide to Healthy Building Renovations & Remodel | Hawk Environmental Services J2 Building Consultants, Inc. September 19, 2019 at 10:00 PM · During building inspections when we remove siding and other components sometimes we run into some nasty stuff. This can range from mold, asbestos, lead based paints and other contaminants. The requirements for testing of these products come from the Federal EPA rules and the Federal OSHA worker protection rules, and obviously we want to protect the tenants or residents as well, as we are all a team in this process. You expect to find things in old buildings, but we have even found contaminants in newer buildings with products that were sold in other countries with different EPA standards may have U.S.-rated contaminants in them. While these inspections may require a little extra work, we follow the rules, avoid any fines, and of course protect the safety of the workers and residents on our projects. One of our favorite testing partners Hawk Environmental Services, Inc. has a great article and some other factors to consider for indoor air quality. Enjoy! #leadtesting #asbestos #inspection #EPA

J2 Building Consultants, Inc. September 13, 2019 at 3:55 PM · Our team has been out at one of our projects with Hawk Environmental Services, Inc. doing lead testing in over 40 units. These tests are required by federal law for residential buildings constructed before 1978 if you plan on doing any remodeling. Hawk used a non-destructive lead paint detector called an XRF gun, which essentially takes an X-Ray of the wall assembly to detect trace amounts of lead. Check out the reader on these locations in the building. Fun fact: Sometimes ceramic tile glazes can have lead in them, even new tiles! #leadtesting #leadpaint
