In March, the economy plummeted 34% and came to a standstill with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. New home construction came to a screeching halt. Amazingly, the economy has rebounded to pre-COVID levels. As buyers take advantage of historically low interest rates, available active listings are in high demand and builders can't keep up. The typical inventory is 5-6 months worth of available listings; our current inventory is at 2-3 months. Home ownership rates have increased from 64.1% last year to 67.9% this year as COVID-19 has increased the demand for ownership due to more people working and educating at home, preferring their own space.
