As everyone knows there is not one entity that hasn’t been affected by covid. So many charitable organizations who rely heavily on donation and collection drives have been completely shut down this year. One group hit so hard by this is the The Knights of Columbus. Every year they have their famous “Tootsie Roll” Drive, this fundraiser helps raise funds for those who can not do for themselves. Northern Will County Special Recreation and the Spread program are two entities that benefit from the tootsie roll drive right here in our community. This one drive aims to raise close to $6000. for the Knights to present to these local service organizations. In an effort to keep the Tootsie Roll Drive alive and well you can donate at Hayes Service Center for every $1 dollar you donate you will receive a $3. The Campaign for People with Intellectual Disabilities, also previously known as the Tootsie Roll Drive, where 100% of the money raised through the Campaign for People with Intellectual Disabilities goes to help people with intellectual disabilities right here in our community. Be on the look out for our Lemont Knights to donate and help our community. September is tootsie roll season.

It is milkweed harvesting time...did you know it is actually considered threatened species? Many people know the Monarch butterfly 🦋 is on the endangered species list but did you know they rely almost solely on the milkweed plant? We should start a campaign "Got Milkweed?" Fall is natures seed planting time, we will be planting ours this week!

The Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight was the Top-of-the Line, technologically advanced model at this time with the highest grade interior and exterior trim! It had Hydramatic automatic transmission, it was the first car to have an automatic headlight dimmer called the Autronic Eye. The first to have automatic headlights that turned on when the sun went down, this was accomplished with a device called the Twilight Sentinel, which senses outside light levels and turns on the headlights accordingly.

Ever wonder why cars of different manufacturers look the same? That's because a lot of the body styles were shared. The 98 had the GM C-body that was shared with Buick and Cadillac.
