Dr. Alexandra Goodman joins the Hayfield Animal Hospital team! Welcome, Dr. Goodman!
Dr. Goodman grew up in Miami, Florida. In 2012, she received a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Biology from Barnard College in New York City. Thereafter, she received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine, as well as her Master of Public Health, from the University of Florida. During that time, she was able to participate in a student epidemiology program through the CDC and perform veterinary epidemiological research on animal rabies in Florida through the Florida Department of Health.
Her primary clinical interests include internal medicine, feline medicine, and ultrasonography. Outside of work, she shares a home with two silly kitties, Funky and Jasper, and her loving partner, Andy.

Out of an abundance of caution, effective Wednesday December 23rd, we will be closed to the public. We will resume normal business hours on Monday, December 28th at 7am.

Hayfield Animal Hospital has advocated for the safety of our team members from the start of this pandemic.
We are so grateful that Virginia added veterinary workers to the 1a tier in early January and our team is definitely taking advantage of the opportunity. Multiple team members have already been vaccinated and our goals is for the remainder of our team to be vaccinated as soon as possible.

⚠️FOUND DOG ALERT!⚠️ This dog was brought in to us yesterday, 2/3. She was found on the corner of Manchester Blvd and Beulah and she was seen with another slightly larger dog that couldn’t be caught. Do you enjoy making fun and yummy treats for your dog? These homemade Banana Pumpkin dog treats are for sure to be a hit with your furr baby! The recipe is as follows:
Ingredients:
-3 cups whole wheat flour + extra for dusting counter
-2 eggs
-1 cup pumpkin puree
-1 banana, mashed
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
2. Mix eggs, banana and pumpkin puree together. Add flour and mix until all the flour is incorporated.
3. Lightly dust the counter and a rolling pin with flour, then roll out dough to approximately 1/8 inch and cut out treats.
4. Lay on a baking sheet and bake for approximately 15-20 minutes. Cool completely before giving to your pup!
Note: If you like a softer treat for your dog, cook closer to the 15 minute mark.

Happy Friday! This week our pet of the week is Sol. She was such a sweet girl for her visit and her smile was so contagious! ❤️
🚨 LOST DOG ALERT 🚨 This sweet girl, Laverne escaped during transport to a rescue in the Rose Hill area. She’s a very sweet girl but is nervous due to her being afraid, so I would not try to chase her if seen. There was a possible last sighting of her at the Rose Hill Apartments.
Do you love DIY activities with your furr baby? This activity is both dog and cat friendly!
What you will need:
-Small canvas
-Gallon size ziplock bag
-Peanut butter (catnip for cats)
-Assortment of paints
-Sharpie
Steps:
1. Take canvas and drop different colored paints on it
2. Take ziplock bag and spread peanut butter over it. If it’s for your cat you will sprinkle the catnip on top of it
3. Place canvas with paint on it inside the ziplock bag and close
4. Place on floor and let your furr baby lick the peanut butter, or for cats roll around in the catnip
Let dry and write your babies name on it to show off their art work!
