The CDC reported a record number of Legionnaires' disease cases in 2018. Kaiser Health News reported on facility spending on Legionella remediation, and it's likely more than necessary. Data-driven (smart) remediation is faster, less expensive, and more preventive. Even better is an effective WMP to stop cases from ever occurring.

If it becomes law, Pennsylvania Senate Bill 1285 will require water management programs (WMPs) for building water systems per ASHRAE Standard 188 and Legionella testing performed by an ASSE-certified individual.

The Joint Commission is accepting comments on its proposed expansion of water management requirements for accredited hospitals. Pending standard EC.02.05.02 would require a WMP that has the essential elements outlined in ASHRAE Standard 188.
