OCTOBER IS HEAD START AWARENESS MONTH
On October 22, 1982, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed October Head Start Awareness Month. Thirty-eight years after the proclamation, his words still inspire us to celebrate this great program; "Perhaps the most significant factor in the success of Head Start has been the involvement of parents, volunteers, and the community. Their commitment and the services provided by dedicated Head Start staff have been instrumental in creating a quality program that truly provides young children with a 'head start' in life."
HCS Head Start is offering limited in-person and remote early education and care services to eligible children and their families ages birth to 5 years old in the Holyoke, Chicopee and Greater Springfield areas.

TUESDAY IS ELECTION DAY! Voting on Election Day, Tuesday November 3? Make sure you know where to go and how you'll get there! Think about water and snacks, just in case. Make sure you have enough time in your day - voting is 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. but if you're in line at 8 p.m. and stay there, they have to let you vote! We don't know if there will be delays, but make a plan just in case, to make sure you can exercise your right to vote. #PlanYourVote #PlanToVote #MakeAPlan

Springfield mother of four receives Parent of the Year Award
Despite having to provide remote services, HCS Head Start is figuring out how to help preschoolers learn and student teachers get experience. This is a great example!
This little one attends our Head Start @ Home program and is working on her Family At Home activity in her living room.
Our Student Teacher Ceasia, from STCC, posted what materials the children needed out of their learning kits on Class Dojo, the day before the activity and then implemented the activity at a Live Virtual Meeting.
Each child created their own "Family At Home", the squares represented different family members that live at home.
This child is 3 years old and is able to write her name. Way to go! Keep up the good work!
