Ensuring Labor, Employment, & Civil Rights
Our work for employees consists of three general types: First, we represent injured and disabled workers in workers' compensation cases and on Social Security disability claims. Second, we represent employees in a broad category of cases such as unemployment compensation, employee pensions and health benefits, plant closings, and employment discrimination cases. Third, we advise and represent employees, including executive level employees, in the review of and negotiation of severance agreements, and in negotiating the labyrinth of professional licensure issues that often arise for nurses, pharmacists and doctors, among others. Our work for labor unions includes major federal and state court litigation, collective bargaining, arbitrations of discharges and contractual disputes, and work before administrative agencies such as the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). The NLRB work includes organizing campaigns, and the major litigation includes issues such as unpaid wages and overtime, Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), and injunction actions.
