I first want to congratulate you on taking the first step towards getting help. I know looking for treatment for stress, anxiety, depression, ADHD, or PTSD can feel overwhelming at times. There are so many names and then it can be confusing who you should even see. Should you see a therapist, psychiatrist, nurse practitioner, or just go to your primary care. Well I am here to help!
My name is Anne and I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I opened Healix because I wanted to treat my clients with an integrative approach and try and reduce the over use of medications. I can prescribe the full range of psychotropic medications but many of my clients respond excellently to the use of vitamins and Ayurvedic herbs to treat the underlying cause of their stress, not just the symptoms. I treat through the lifespan and have spent a great deal of time working with the adolescent and transitional age youth populations. I treat a variety of psychiatric disorders including depression, anxiety, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, sleep disturbance, and post-traumatic stress disorder by utilizing medications, supplements, lifestyle changes, therapeutic support, and Ayurvedic medicine practiced by our collaborator Naomi Boas.
Why Healix is different from a typical psychiatrist
My background as a PMHNP is in psychiatric nursing. I have worked face to face with clients and families and I have seen how frustrating the psychiatric field can be. I have worked in all different settings and acuity levels and I know that mental health treatment has to be as holistic and specific as possible in order to be effective.
On pretty much all of my clients I run a mental health specific genetic test (covered by insurance). This test lets us know so much about how the body is functioning, and what the best course of treatment can be. Many people are experiencing symptoms of anxiety that stem from vitamin deficiencies, or a genetic predisposition to have increased stress response. These clients have usually tried and failed many pharmaceuticals because we simply weren’t treating the right thing! This comprehensive genetic test can also help us titrate medications by letting us know how fast you are metabolizing medications. If you metabolize too fast, you won’t benefit from the medication and too slow you will be more prone to side effects.
