Never leave burning candles unattended
Be sure to closely watch pots or pans that you’re using to cook, boil or fry foods
Keep kitchen towels, oven mitts and flammable utensils away from heat sources
Make sure a smoke detector is installed near the kitchen
Keep a kitchen fire extinguisher or baking soda handy to extinguish small fires
Place your outdoor grill and/or propane tanks away from your home
If you are a smoker…
Do not smoke if you are tired or on medication that makes you drowsy
Never smoke in bed
Always put-out cigarettes in an ashtray or bucket filled with sand
Even if you think it’s extinguished, do no throw your cigarette butt into the grass
