L4/5 Month Old Mama's Boomkar this post for later! 🔖
One of my favorite age groups to work with are 5 month olds.
Usually at this point parents have endured the 4 month sleep regression but might be feeling like the way their little one is sleeping is unsustainable for the family.
I love working with 5 month olds because they usually have good hand control, are often rolling or on the verge or rolling, which can be a sleep game changer.
In addition they have less variables at play than older kids do. The risks of things interrupting sleep teaching are low at this age. As kids age other variables such as teething and motor leaps become more frequent and common.
What's possible for you at 5 months:
1. 11 plus hours of overnight sleep with one night feed at no other night wakings. It's rare that I get a kiddo that sleeps 12 hours solidly at night. Eleven is more common.
2. You're aiming for three to four hours of total nap time per day. This may be in four or three naps. Mid 5 months tends to be the transition time down to three naps.
3. Babies are capable of self soothing at this age. There are gentle methods where you can be beside them offering them physical and verbal reassurance through the process.
This is my favorite age to work at sleep teaching as your kiddos are alert understanding have great arm control and all of this is available for you too! You can't be loving attached and well rested.
The full version of this is located on my website. Go to my link in bio for my blog and search five months.
