In support of racial equity, Henkels & Baker, PC, is adding Juneteenth as an annual firm holiday and will therefore be closed this Friday, June 19.
As a law firm that serves many people of color and which currently has an all-white staff, we feel a deep responsibility to educate ourselves about systemic racism, to learn how our own white privilege has blinded us to injustice, and to take real action to be the change we wish to see in the world. We'll be using this time away to read Stamped from the Beginning: The Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America by Ibram X. Kendi so that we learn together as an organization and work to implement social justice as a core value of our firm.

Iowa Workforce Development is now accepting applications for unemployment benefits If you are laid off due to COVID-19 or have to stay home to self-isolate, care for family members or due to illness related to COVID-19. You can receive benefits, provided you meet all other eligibility requirements, which essentially include working for wages from an employer who claims you as an employee in six of the last eighteen months and have earned at least $2,500 in the same time period. Work search requirements will be waived.
The sooner you apply, the sooner you can get benefits.
